"The Banana Cabaret at The Bedford is one of the finest and most respected comedy clubs in the country. Not only is the room perfect for comedy but they curate one of the best line-ups of live stand-up comedy on the circuit. I’ve played the club dozens of times and have always had an absolute blast!"
"The Balham Banana is in every comedian's favourite 'top 5' clubs to play. Its in my top 2. The Balham Banana has been a hapless midwife at the birth of many a comedy monster. Well known comics often think of certain comedy clubs with a shudder. The Balham Banana induces more of a warm glow."
“The Banana Cabaret is a colossus of London Comedy.”
“Banana Cabaret is the heartbeat of London’s comedy scene. A magnificent club with long history of booking the very best acts.”
“The Banana Cabaret at the Bedford in Balham is a fantastic comedy venue. If you've never been there you need to go. It's one of my favourite places to play and the atmosphere is always brilliant. (By the way my shoes are made of bananas. They're slip-ons.)”
“Banana Cabaret at The Bedford was the first place I ever got a paid stand-up gig, in September 1989, on a bill with David Baddiel and Alastair McGowan. Despite the gentrification of Balham, and the economic cleansing of Alternative Comedy's original audience of latter-day beatniks and threadbare intellectuals, the club has survived to continue as a vital part of the London live comedy scene, globally recognised as the best stand-up proving ground in the world.”
"The Banana Cabaret at The Bedford is a cracking night out! "Every comedian I know loves the Banana and loves The Bedford. You only have to look at who’s played there to know you're always going to get a stellar line up of comedians. The Banana is up there with The Comedy Store - best Comedy Clubs in London."
“One of the few truly great comedy clubs in the UK”
“This unusual venue is one of the finest in London. The club is held in high regard by the comics too, which means it almost invariably offers one of the strongest bills in town”
Now entering its 36th year, the Banana Cabaret has justifiably earn its status as one of the best places to catch the future of British Comedy.
Harry Hill, Al Murray – The Pub Landlord, Jack Whitehall, Joe Brand, Stewart Lee, Jack Dee, Greg Davies, Eddie Izzard, Catherine Tate, Rob Brydon, Omid Djalil & Frank Skinner – just to name a few – have all tickled audiences on these stages, in the famous Round Room, now called The Club Room.
The Banana Cabaret continues to be the spring board for new and emerging comedians as well as a favourite with the established artists. Recent performers have included Steven K Amos, Jason Manford, Rich Hall, Tim Vine, Sara Pascoe and Joe Lycett…the list goes on!
The Bedford is an iconic venue well known for being a cornerstone of London’s thriving live music, comedy and entertainment scenes.
First built in 1931, it’s played host the best in the business from U2 to The Clash, James Bay to KT, Tunstall. Ed Sheeran was a regular performer and even recorded his first album there.
It’s currently undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment to create an unrivalled pub, club, restaurant, live music and comedy venue with 15 stunning hotel rooms.
We can’t wait to be the very first promoter to play there during their soft opening fortnight. Come for dinner, stay for the show and party until 2am for an incredible evening. Find out more here.
