20 Mar Friday 24th & Saturday 25th March : John Moloney, Jeff Innocent, Steve Gribbin, Andre Vincent & Windsor
After a deliriously funny St Patrick’s weekend, we’ve got a blockbuster of a pair of shows this weekend.
“One of the best things about watching live comedy is seeing a comedian get his second wind of inspiration. Sometimes an established comic suddenly finds something extra, and one of these comics is John Moloney. He’s been a headliner at top clubs like the Comedy Store for years – yet his comedy has acquired more depth, as well as an even sharper edge. “
William Cook – The Guardian.
“A deeply enjoyable, hilarious evening relaxing in the sure hands of a total professional.” ***** by John Christopher Wood
John Moloney has been a professional comedian for over twenty-five years, and has entertained audiences across the globe with his crafted, intelligent and original stand-up routines.
Winner of the Best Live Performer award for two years running at the London Comedy Festival, John has become one of Britain’s most in-demand comedians.
John was also delighted to be nominated as ‘Best Live Stand-Up’ at the British Comedy Awards – but was even happier to be the WINNER in the Category “Outstanding Contribution to UK Comedy” in 2015.
John’s Radio 4 Show ” The John Moloney Show ” was Pick of the Year on the BBC in 2016, and has been re-commissioned in 2017.
Jeff Innocent is a popular and experienced stand up comedian, actor, writer and cultural commentator. As a stand up comedian he has reached near legendary status among his peers and audience alike by staying at the top of his game for over 15 years. His unique appeal lies in the contrast between his East End ‘Geezer’ appearance and demeanour, and his educated, philosophical delivery and subject matter, inspiring the guardian to describe him as a comedian with, ‘The body of a nightclub bouncer and the brains of a university boffin’.
He continues to cement his position within the premiership of British comedians with his weekly performances at clubs like Jongleurs and The Comedy Store, featuring in the 2013 movie, The Comedy Store, Raw and Uncut. He has also taken one man shows to The Edinburgh Fringe.
The spread of the comedy circuit globally has found Jeff performing in such unlikely and far flung locations as China, India, Norway and Vietnam to name but a few.
His recent acting credits include appearances in the children’s TV programme, Little Howards Big Question and BBC’s extremely popular historical drama series, Call The Midwife.
Steve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit.
Steve’s original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes that put their foot in the door of your mind and refuse to leave. Firmly based in rock ‘n’ roll and refusing to pull no punches, these are not the ‘oh so witty’ ditties of penguin-suited plink plonk piano playing posh gobs. They are that rarity – comedy songs which are actually funny.
For nine years Steve was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video, stalwart’s of the Edinburgh Festival, appearing on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live, radio such as The Mary Whitehouse Experience, and their own show in 1992/3 Songlines (BBC Radio 1). Skint Video went their different ways in 1993, since then Steve has been storming across the UK and Ireland as a solo artiste.
