Friday 12th & Saturday 13th May : Sally Anne Hayward, Andy Askins, Paul Thorne & George Zack

Such a terrific lineup of stand-up comedy at Balham’s Banana Cabaret this weekend, by far the best comedy club in London.

Sally Anne Howard

Sally Anne Howard has proven her writing talents with numerous Edinburgh Fringe shows and can display a depth of material that marks out the best comic talent. She has performed all over the world and has provided tour support for Sarah Millican, Russell Howard and Russell Kane.

Chortle praised her “bubbly stream of comedy anecdotes” and “butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth” style. BBC London Live simply called her ‘fabulous’.

A journalist also, Sally-Anne has written for Standard Issue Magazine on a variety of subjects.

Andy Askins

AS SEEN ON THE JOHN BISHOP SHOW – BBC ONE

“DARK HUMOUR WITH FAULTLESS TIMING” The Stage

Andy Askins is a diminutive figure who exudes an air of vulnerability as he steps up to the microphone armed with a guitar and a cheeky grin. It’s an overwhelmingly misleading demeanour which serves to heighten the impact of the killer lines that he delivers.

Andy has an expertly crafted routine littered with an eclectic mix of offbeat original comic songs and parodies. A talented musician with a captivating voice, popular songs have been re-written and given a perverse twist to tremendous comic effect. With a wickedly dry sense of humour, Andy’s darker material is sweetened by his innocent and impish demeanour which never fails to leave audiences in the palm of his hand. With impeccable timing, the inventive and quirky songs are peppered with inspired patter – the material is as strong as the songs and delivered in an inimitable modest and self-deprecating style.

Paul Thorne

Paul Thorne is one of Britain’s most established and sought-after stand-ups. As well as performing at all of the UK’s major comedy venues and festivals he can be seen weekly at London’s Comedy Store as a member of The Cutting Edge team of comedians who perform topical material based on the week’s news.

In addition to performing all over Europe Paul has taken his unique brand of comedy as far afield as Hong Kong, Thailand, Canada, Singapore, China and Japan and has toured extensively with Jack Dee, Lee Hurst and Rory Bremner.
